The Washashore is a mystery rolled into a coming-of-age story rolled into a historical novel set during the roaring 20s on Martha’s Vineyard.
Emily, a teenaged transplant from the Midwest, has never met her rich Aunt Isabel, now her legal guardian following her mother’s untimely demise. Their first meeting doesn’t go well. Isabel’s frosty reception of Emily’s first awkward curtsy starts her on a crash course in East Coast society and manners.
Not only that, but Emily’s arrival overlaps with the disappearance of Isabel's friend Ann Simpson. Isabel is convinced her old friend has been murdered and needs Emily’s help to find the culprit.
